Terms and Conditions

Dogs’ Day Walking is a brand of Dogs’ Day Retreat Limited company number (09080007) registered address 56 Cornel Road, High Heaton, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE77PT. Dogs’ Day Walking is fully insured and Police Disclosure checked (200000003775887).

 

  1. Bookings

1.1. Bookings will only be accepted after all the necessary forms have been completed and payment arranged in accordance with the price list applicable at the time of booking. Bank holidays and weekends will be subject to additional fees which will be advised at the time of booking.

 

1.2. All Dog Care requires a familiarisation visit prior to reservations, for all new clients.

 

1.3. Pet Sitting/ House Sitting Visits require an in-home consultation, prior to reservations, for all new clients.

 

1.4. Dogs’ Day Walking will provide a time interval during which pet visits will occur. If an unforeseen situation arises, the time interval may be adjusted.

 

1.5. Bookings may be accepted up to 24 hours before the service begins.

 

1.6. Dogs’ Day Walking carefully schedules it’s time to serve you and our other clients, therefore there are no refunds or credits for early returns or last minute changes to pet care.

 

1.7. In the event that the client is delayed on return, they must inform Dogs’ Day Walking immediately, and Dogs’ Day Walking will use its best endeavours to make alternative arrangements for continued cover, even when it is unable to continue with care following the assignment end date.

 

1.8. The client must notify Dogs’ Day Walking of their return as soon as possible. Dogs’ Day Walking will continue visits unless the client confirms they have returned and this service is no longer required. The client will be charged a full visit fee for any unnecessary visits made.

 

  1. Payment

2.1. Dogs’ Day Walking accepts payment by cash, cheque made payable to “Dogs Day Walking” or bank transfer.

 

2.2. A 25% deposit of the total sum due is payable to Dogs’ Day Walking to secure House sitting and Pet visit bookings.

 

2.3. The remaining balance is due on the return date.

 

2.4. In the event that the client is delayed on return, additional fees for continued care will be added to the outstanding balance.

 

2.5. Where services are required long term, the client may make payment on a monthly basis.

 

2.6. A returned cheque fee of £15 will be charged.

 

2.7. Pet sitting fees are charged for each 24 hour period.

2.7.1. House sitting for less than 24 hours will be charged a 24 hour fee.

2.7.2. Departures less than 5 hours over the 24 hour period will be charged at 50% of the fee

for that day.

2.7.3. Departures more than 5 hours over the 24 hour period will be charged a full day care fee for that day.

 

2.8. Unpaid service may be cancelled with 24 hours notice.

 

2.9. Reservations are made to plan availability to clients. Therefore, clients returning home early will be required to pay for the reserved amount of time scheduled.

 

  1. Cancellation Rights

3.1. The client has the right to cancel the agreement within 7 days unless the service begins within that period.

 

3.2. Cancellation is accepted either by telephone or in writing from the client.

 

3.3. For dog walks a cancelation fee of £5 will be charged when notice given is less than 24 hours.

 

3.4. A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking an overnight visit. This deposit will not be refunded if the visits are cancelled by the Client, except under circumstances Dogs’ Day Walking determines to be worthy of refund. Availability of overnight visits is not guaranteed prior to reservation.

 

 

  1. Duty of Care

4.1. Dogs’ Day Walking highly respects clients’ trust with the care of their pet and where necessary, having access to the client’s property.

 

4.2. Dogs’ Day Walking will utilise its skill and knowledge to ensure the standards of care provided to the pets and any property is appropriate.

 

4.3. Any change in a pet’s routine and circumstances can cause varying degrees of distress and unpredictable or abnormal behaviour, particularly if their owner is on holiday. Pets have no concept or ability to understand their owner’s absence is temporary and they will be coming back. Dogs’ Day Walking understands this and will offer comfort and reassurance whilst trying, as far as is practically possible to maintain their normal daily routines.

 

4.4. In the event of extreme weather which may have an adverse effect on your pet e.g. heat or thunder storms, Dogs’ Day Walking, at its sole discretion, shall take whatever action it considers necessary, including not carrying our scheduled exercise until it is, in its opinion, safe to do so.

 

4.5. If Dogs’ Day Walking arrives at your home at the scheduled time and for whatever reason Pet is not present and does not return within 5 minutes, we will leave the premises and client will be fully responsible for the fee for that visit.

 

4.6. Client agrees to notify Dogs’ Day Walking of any concerns within 24 hours of return.

 

 

  1. House sitting, Day Care, Dog Walking

5.1. Bitches in season or intact males / females will not be boarded together.

 

5.2. Dogs’ Day Walking will not care for or walk unruly or untrained dogs.

 

5.3. Dogs will only be walked on leads unless off lead permission is granted.

 

5.4. Dogs’ Day Walking is not responsible for wilted, dead or otherwise unhealthy plants. Dogs’ Day Walking will work hard to follow your written directions as precisely as possible, but cannot be responsible if the results are not favourable. Please place all indoor plants together on a waterproof surface in plain sight, as we are not responsible for water damaged areas or missed plants.

5.5. All dogs being walked will undergo a trial period to ensure that they are adequately trained and socialised.

5.6. Dogs’ Day Walking reserves the right to cancel the contract at any time & with immediate effect if the dog does not respond well to the walker and/or other dogs.

5.7. All dogs will be towelled dry upon their return where appropriate.

 

 

  1. Aggressive or Unsociable Animals

6.1. The client will indemnify Dogs’ Day Walking against any damage or injury caused by the pet towards any property, person or other animal; this will include, but is not limited to veterinary, medical and legal fees.

 

6.2. Dogs’ Day Walking will not accept aggressive animals or dogs listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

 

6.3. In the event of pet’s behaviour exceeding what would be considered normal or acceptable towards people or other animals, Dogs’ Day Walking shall, in its sole discretion, take whatever action it considers necessary in the best interest of the animal and other animals or people which may be encountered. This may include refusal to walk a dog or in extreme circumstances termination of the contract and placing the pet in a boarding kennel and will be subject to a transfer charge and any additional fees.

 

6.4. The client agrees that on booking services for their dog that they have represented that the dog has not show aggression or caused harm, or threatening behaviour to any individual and / or any animal. The client agrees to contact Dogs’ Day Walking as soon as possible if any of these behavioural changes presents itself or if it has the potential to cause harm to any individual or animal.

 

6.5 Although Dogs’ Day Walking holds Public Liability insurance, wherever possible pets should be insured by the client. Dogs’ Day Walking reserves the right to refuse a booking for any animal which is not insured.

 

  1. Necessities

7.1. Dogs’ Day Walking will properly dispose of pet waste, however the client shall ensure there is an appropriate supply of bags for that purpose, and indicate their preferred method / location of disposal.

 

7.2. The client shall provide sufficient food, cat litter and any treats for their pet for the duration of the service.

 

7.3. The client shall provide secure collars with name / address tags and leads.

 

7.4. Dogs’ Day Walking is not responsible for damage to the home. This includes, but is not limited to leaks, electrical problems, and acts of nature. In these situations, the company will attempt to contact the customer and then the emergency contact before making a subjective decision on dealing with the problem. All repairs and related fees (including emergency service time and coordination fees) will be paid by the client, or fully reimbursed to Dogs’ Day Walking within 10 days.

7.5. Dogs’ Day Walking is not liable for any loss or damage in the event a burglary or other crime that should occur while under this contract. Client agrees to secure home prior to leaving the premises. Dogs’ Day Walking will re-secure the home to the best of its ability at the end of each visit.

 

 

 

  1. House Cleanliness

8.1. Dogs’ Day Walking will keep the client’s house, pet and pet equipment in a clean and tidy state as found.

 

8.2. Dogs’ Day Walking will clean up after your pet to the best of its ability.

 

8.3. The client shall make available cleaning materials in the event of any ‘accidents’ within their property.

 

8.4. The client will show Dogs’ Day Walking the location of appropriate cleaning materials, including but not limited to plastic bags, disposable gloves, towels, disinfectant, paper towels and bin bags.

 

9 Health

9.1. It shall be the client’s sole responsibility to ensure Dogs’ Day Walking is fully aware of any health issues the pet is experiencing, or has suffered in the past. Dogs’ Day Walking cannot be held liable for any actions or omissions which result in problems or complications for anything not disclosed by the client.

 

9.2. No booking can be accepted without a completed Veterinary Release Form.

 

9.3.Dogs’ Day Walking shall follow instruction given with regards to medication but cannot be held liable for any complications which may arise.

 

9.4. The client should ensure that all pets cared for by Dogs’ Day Walking are in good health with no contagious conditions.

9.4.1. Under no circumstances will Dogs’ Day Walking care for any pet that has any form of active contagious disease.

9.4.2. In the event of a pet having a contagious disease which has not been disclosed, the client may be liable for the costs of treatment given to other animals which become infected.

 

9.5. Dogs’ Day Walking needs to verify a valid vaccination certificate. This ensures the health of our own, current and future pet visitors.

 

9.6. Vaccinations must be completed 2 weeks prior to the first date of care.

 

9.7. If an employee of Dogs’ Day Walking is bitten or exposed to any disease or ailment received from the clients pet which has not been properly or currently vaccinated, the client will be responsible for all costs and damages that may be incurred as a result.

 

9.8. Flea and worming treatment must be up to date. In the event of a flea or worm infestation, Dogs’ Day Walking will treat the pet at the client’s expense.

 

9.9. The client must provide Dogs’ Day Walking with the name and contact number of someone capable of making a decision relating to the pet(s) in an emergency. If the contact is not available Dogs’ Day walking reserves the right to consult with a veterinary surgeon and then make a decision which is in the best interests of the animal.

9.9.1. 1. Dogs’ Day Walking are insured for transporting and walking your dog/s for the time we have them with us. Our policy covers the dog/s against anything that may go wrong as a result of our negligence. (e.g. escaping our care and causing an accident or harming a member of the public).  It does not cover your dog/s for sudden illness or unpreventable injury whilst in our care. (e.g. heart attack) any veterinary costs occurred as a result of these circumstances will be the responsibility of the owner.  In the unlikely event that your dog/s needs to see a vet as a matter of urgency we will of course oblige and keep you informed at every step.
 

 

 

10 Miscellaneous

10.1. Clients must provide all food and items of equipment necessary for pet care during their time of absence.

 

10.2. In the event that items need to be purchased the client shall reimburse Dogs’ Day Walking upon production of a receipt for the items.

 

10.3. The terms of this document apply to all the pets owned by the client, including any and all new pets that the customer obtains on or after the date this document was signed or any pets visiting the Client’s home and placed in care of Dogs’ Day Walking, at any and all locations the owner designates for service.

 

10.4. Client is responsible for pet-proofing their house and exterior, including the security fences/gates/latches. Dogs’ Day Walking will not be responsible for the safety of any pets and will not be liable for the injury, disappearance, death, or fines of any pet with unsupervised access to the outdoors.

 

10.5. Client will be responsible for all medical expenses and damages resulting from an injury to a Pet Sitter, or other persons, by the Pet. Customer agree to indemnify, hold harmless, and defend Dogs’ Day Walking, in the event of a claim by any person injured by the Pet.

 

10.6. Dogs’ Day Walking agrees to provide services stated in this agreement in a reliable, caring and trustworthy manner. In consideration of the services as an express condition thereof, the Client expressly waives and relinquishes any and all claims against the company and its employees, except those arising from negligence.

 

11 Security of Keys

11.1. There will be no charge for key collection or key return to the client.

 

11.2. Where it is necessary for Dogs’ Day Walking to hold keys to a property, the client shall provide one of each key needed. Keys will be coded and kept within a locked system for security.

 

11.3. Keys will be returned on request, upon completion of the services, providing all fees due have been paid.

 

12 Change of Details

12.1. Please inform Dogs’ Day Walking of any changes regarding your contact numbers, your pet care needs, your emergency contact details and any other relevant information.

 

12.2. It shall be the client’s sole responsibility to ensure the information provided to Dogs’ Day Walking is current and up to date. The client agrees to accept any decision made by Dogs’ Day Walking in the event of not being able to contact the client as a result of wrong information held. If Dogs’ Day Walking is subjected to any expenditure as a results of the decision, that expenditure shall be recoverable from the client. Please inform Dogs’ Day Walking of any errors made on the Booking Form so these can be amended or please request a new form.

 

13 Agreement terms

 

13.1. This agreement is valid from the date signed, and replaces any prior Legal Considerations agreements. Client agrees to any future Dogs’ Day Walking term changes relayed verbally to the client, mailed or emailed in writing to the client, or posted on Dogs’ Day Walking’s website.

 

13.2. All clients will be deemed to have accepted Dogs’ Day Walking terms and conditions (as laid out here) on signature of the Booking Form.
